you know, the whole mess created by the recent VOIP attempt originally put me squarely in the 'wtf do we need this for' category but now that u mention it, voice chat really could be useful if only to weed out the ppl who deliberately try to trick ppl re their gender

This was the only reason I cautiously opted for voice chat. I have used skype, and I would rather not as I seem to loose my anonymity.
